Remotely located on the Idaho-Nevada border, this juvenile center serves youth and families of the Shoshone-Paiute Tribes of the Duck Valley Indian Reservation and other Western Shoshone Tribes. This 18,000 sf facility was completed two months ahead of schedule and under budget. It includes separate housing for men and women, a gym/multi-purpose area, education space, administrative offices, and kitchen faculties. A large part of the design incorporated native elements including a ceremonial fire pit in the central gathering area, and use of the natural landscape surrounding the facility.
