The Grant County and USFS-Malheur National Forest are planning a joint use 17,752 sf facility for a Regional Training Academy, offices, and GA aviation terminal in John Day, OR. Features include a helicopter rappelling training, new helicopter landing pad, classroom facilities and GA aviation terminal. Site work includes new aircraft parking, a parking lot expansion, RV parking for US Forest Service fire operations, training grounds and biomass heating plant. CSHQA is the architect for the multi-use terminal building, targeted for LEED Silver certification. The building will be built adjacent to the existing terminal building, with an estimated completion date of September 2010.
